Multilanguage Retail Commerce Providers

Praxtel Telecommunications uses NetSuite as their end-to-end platform. While NetSuite "markets itself" to be an all inclusive system, we have found that they have modulized their platform in such a way that the features needed require you to keep adding on and on modules. This is the case with my experience so far trying to optimize the Praxtel.com site for SEO.

For example, one of the most basic things to make your site be read by Google Bot and other spiders is to create a xml site map and put it in your root directory. We created the xml site map using xml-sitemaps.com and when we went to put it into the root directory - low and behold - we realized that you needed the "Advanced Module" or rather another 2-3K for access to Praxtel's own root directory! Is something wrong with this picture?!!

Also, simple things like making the titles specific to pages is not available in the basic package. What happens with the basic package is that when you change the page title it is also set to the tab name. Therefore, if you attempt to make the page title SEO friendly like "Fiber Optics, Patch Cables, Amphenol Connectors and More from Praxtel Telecommunications". You'll end up having one really long tab name. Not good. Hence we had to go with Cables and More | Home for the tab name so that the title attribute would be more specific.

Hence, we will be trialing the Advanced module for 15 days and see if this addition will make help us get Praxtel on the first page of Google results.

In the interim, we are also advising our client of alternate e-commerce platforms. The biggest stumbling block that we are finding is that most solutions out there only are for one language unless we build something from scratch using OSCommerce. In fact, we reviewed both the Yahoo Small Business Merchant Solutions as well as Volusion and neither have the multi-language capabilities available at this time. Bummer!

More to come...stay tuned.
